A limen is the threshold at which something begins to be perceivable.
This series is derived from negatives that accidentally mutated in
the photographic process yet somehow retained enough information to
be able to print images using digital processes. I had intended to
document an event, but instead recorded only an impression
of it a subjective documentation using the allegedly objective
technology of film.
Now the event itself becomes irrelevant, giving way to the experience
of perception as the subject. Like a dream or memory almost tangible
but not quite, on the periphery of vision focused outward and inward
in the same moment, the images ultimately function like clues about
something that either was or might have been, still lingering at the
threshold of cognition.
